Corporate Identity: Expanded Polystyrene Australia
Melbourne based organisation, Expanded Polystyrene Australia (EPSA), had just undergone a restructure and name change, when they came to Koodoz Design looking for help in creating a new brand. An image that would ultimately assist them in reeducating the general public’s negative perception of Polystyrene and assist them in promoting the 100% recyclable and environmentally friendly benefits of the industry.
Cleverly conceived, the logo design uses basic geometric shapes to create a modern and minimalistic brand. Adopting the circular shapes of polystyrene balls, the individual letters of the EPSA acronym are uniquely (and discretely) formed. From a top down view, the quadrant of shapes – reminiscent of ‘speech bubbles’ – illustrates a group of industry members communicating. The use of fresh, vibrant colours embody a ‘green image’, whilst the unique composition of symbolism and lower-case type provides a friendlier and more approachable image to its target market.
